Tandem Stands in Solidarity with Asian American and Pacific Islander Communities
Tandem®, Partners in Early Learning® stands in solidarity with the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. We condemn the horrific murders in Atlanta and the anti-Asian hate crimes and violence occurring throughout this country. We condemn white supremacy culture, racism, scapegoating, misogyny, and oppression of any kind.
One of Tandem’s organizational values is diversity and inclusion. We are committed to uncovering and dismantling white supremacy culture, racism, and discrimination within our organization and throughout our community.
We all have a duty to ground our practices in anti-racist principles. Tandem will continue to deepen our work, through books and authentic partnerships with community members, to:
- Celebrate the richness of diverse ethnicities and cultures to counter the homogenization, invisibility, and erasure in monolithic terms like “Asian;”
- Help educators, caregivers, and children to have honest, anti-racist conversations to recognize and dismantle biases and othering;
- Uplift the power and strength of women and LGBTQ+ individuals; and
- Affirm the humanity and dignity of every person.
Tandem believes in building a world where multiracial solidarity is the norm, where all people and all children belong and thrive. We commit to our work towards racial justice.
The Tandem community stands in solidarity with the AAPI communities.
