Tandem Celebrates First Birthday at Playland-Not-At-The-Beach
Humbling. Invigorating. Inspirational.
For those of us who work here at Tandem, we enjoy being silly and indulging our inner child on a nearly daily basis. We wanted to share this feeling with our friends and supporters for our first “birthday” party, and what better place to celebrate than Playland Not-At-The-Beach?
I think first birthdays are particularly special. It’s the first time family and friends come together to celebrate the newest addition to their lives; it’s a chance to marvel at all that has changed in the past twelve months; and it’s a chance to daydream about the boundless hope and possibility encapsulated in that one tiny baby.
Taking an evening to celebrate our first year as Tandem brought up a number of those same emotions for a lot of us. To look back on all we have achieved together was humbling. To dream about what we will achieve in the coming years was invigorating. But to do it surrounded by funders, volunteers, donors, program participants, and colleagues? Inspirational.
We look forward to many more “birthday” celebrations as Tandem, Partners in Early Learning, as we work together to spark joy and close the opportunity gap for children and families in the Bay Area. Thanks to those who joined us, either at Playland for a root beer float or at any time along our journey. For our birthday this year, you gave us the greatest gift of all: your support.
