Milestones and Momentum: A look back at Tandem Highlights 2023-2024
The start of a new program year always brings with it a sense of possibility. It’s a time when we naturally find ourselves looking back, celebrating our accomplishments, while also looking forward, anticipating the potential that lies ahead. As I reflect on this dual perspective, I’m filled with pride for what we’ve achieved in 2023-24 and excitement for what’s to come in 2024-25.
This past year at Tandem has been nothing short of extraordinary, and I’m thrilled to share our journey with you—our dedicated educators, generous donors, and invaluable partner agencies.
Thanks to our amazing staff, board, and community partners, we’ve reached new heights in Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco counties:
- Over 20,000 children and families participated in our early learning programs and literacy events
- More than 2,600 parents and caregivers engaged in workshops and play-and-learn groups
- 929 educators enhanced their skills through our professional development programs
- 857 classrooms embraced our StoryCycles or Read & Play Club program
- 28,133 books with accompanying activity guides found new homes
These numbers reflect our collective efforts towards educational equity and social justice. They represent children exploring new worlds through books, families bonding over shared learning experiences, and educators expanding their skills to better serve our community. Each interaction, each program, and each partnership contributes to our shared vision of a more equitable early learning landscape.
In the coming year, we’ll be focusing on identifying opportunities to sustainably expand our reach to more children and families, exploring new initiatives, and deepening our impact. But we can’t do it alone. I invite you to stay engaged, share your thoughts, and continue being the champions for equity and early learning that you’ve always been. Your passion, your ideas, and your support are what make our work possible.
Thank you for being part of the Tandem community. Here’s to another year of growth, connection, and positive change!
