Happy #RedNoseDay from Tandem!
One of my favorite things about this job is how often I’m greeted on a Monday morning by the sound of kids. Kids shouting with joy and shrieking with laughter as they ask to hear their favorite stories again or excitedly tell me their own true stories about their multiple pet alligators, the live Yeti they met at the zoo, or their escape from pirates on San Francisco’s Treasure Island.
As we wrap up the 2015-2016 school year, the sound of joy being sparked in the classroom has to share space with the sound of clicking keyboards across our three Bay Area Tandem offices as we get down to some important grown-up work: data entry, book ordering, year-end survey analysis, blog-writing, etc.
Luckily, we had a chance to stop typing and get #SeriouslySilly today in honor of Red Nose Day, a national campaign to raise awareness and funds for kids across the United States and throughout the world who are living in poverty.
These goofy red noses serve as a reminder that books are just the beginning! There are infinite ways to spark joy and close the opportunity gap, and Red Nose Day is a unique opportunity every year for celebrities, schools, corporations, nonprofits, and community members from all walks of life to come together and do just that.
